FCC Publishes Final Rules for LPTV Digital Transition

On July 15, 2011 the FCC released the Final Rules for LPTV, Class A and Translator Stations for digital transition. Prior to September 1, 2015 all analog TV broadcast stations must discontinue operation and either go dark or start broadcasting on their assigned DTV channel. Federal Register Publishes LPDTV FNPRM

The Media Bureau has released a public notice announcing publication of the Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking and Memorandum Opinion and Order (FNPRM) considering issues related to completing the low-power television station digital transition that was published in the Federal Register on Oct. 18.

Publication in the Federal Register started the pleading cycle for the LPDTV Transition FNPRM,MB Docket No. 10-148. As a result, comments are due Friday, Dec. 17, and reply comments are due Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011. For more information click here or go to www.fcc.gov.

New Advocacy Group Enlightens Decision-Makers To The Bright Possibilities Of Television Spectrum

SpectrumEvolution.org is a new advocacy group, whose mission is to promote fair, plausible and intelligent broadcast spectrum policy, with a focus on how spectrum policy issues raised in the National Broadband Plan will impact all broadcasters, especially Class A, Low Power TV (“LPTV”), and TV Translator stations. As our name indicates, we believe that spectrum use should “evolve” and be driven primarily by private entrepreneurial creativity and marketplace forces – not by government officials who pick winners and losers by opening and closing regulatory gates according to their own notion of what is best for the people of our country. FCC Announces Release of Mobile Broadband Spectrum Forecast

FCC announces freeze on new digital Low Power TV & Translator applications
The FCC announced on Oct. 28, 2010 a freeze on the filing of applications for new digital Low Power Television and TV Translator stations. Quoted from the FCC "Effective immediately, the Media Bureau announces a freeze on the filing of applications for new digital low power television (LPTV) and TV translator stations and major changes to existing analog and digital LPTV and TV translator facilities in so-called rural areas." Introducing Pineapple's new Transmitter & Translator Units

Pineapple Technology Inc. is proud to introduce their new line of ATSC digital transmitter and translator/transposer line of TV broadcast equipment. The first deliveries to the Pacific Northwest have started this week. The DTXPRO Transmitter/Translator/Transposer Line is for LPTV, Class A, Translator and Full Power TV Broadcast Systems. The DTXPRO Transmitter line has power output ranging from 1 watt to 5 Kw and is available with an embedded ATSC digital receiver for translator service. The DXDPRO line is a standalone ATSC digital modulator. The systems include an embedded Web GUI Ethernet connection for full system remote control including telemetry, status and control of the modulator and power amplifier. The ATSC digital modulator has manual or adaptive linear and non-linear precorrection, an embedded GPS receiver and 10 MHz input and output for reference. All digital transmitter systems come with a two year parts and labor warranty and are manufactured in the USA by a family owned and operated business.
