FCC Publishes Final Rules for LPTV Digital Transition

On July 15, 2011 the FCC released the Final Rules for LPTV, Class A and Translator Stations for digital transition. Prior to September 1, 2015 all analog TV broadcast stations must discontinue operation and either go dark or start broadcasting on their assigned DTV channel. Federal Register Publishes LPDTV FNPRM

The Media Bureau has released a public notice announcing publication of the Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking and Memorandum Opinion and Order (FNPRM) considering issues related to completing the low-power television station digital transition that was published in the Federal Register on Oct. 18.

Publication in the Federal Register started the pleading cycle for the LPDTV Transition FNPRM,MB Docket No. 10-148. As a result, comments are due Friday, Dec. 17, and reply comments are due Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011. For more information click here or go to www.fcc.gov.

FEMA Announces Adoption Of New Standard For Emergency Alerts
FEMA announced adoptioin of a new digital standard for emergency alerts. The adoption of a new digital message format for the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS), the nation's next generation emergency alert and warning network will begin sometime in the next 180 days. FCC Announces NPRM for Analog Shutdown of LPTV, Class A & Translator Stations
The FCC released a FNPRM for the shutdown of analog broadcasting for LPTV, Class A & Translator Stations including Amendments of Parts 73 and 74 of the Commission's Rules to Establish Rules for Digital Low Power Television, Television Translator, and Television Booster Stations and to Amend Rules for Digital Class A Television Stations.
